Clearing Your "Subconscious" Mind To Make Room For Conscious Flow-State & Improved Memory

Active vs Automatic Thought (and how to make automatic thought help -- not hurt -- you...)

In order to begin this discussion, you must first understand what your 'conscious' vs 'subconscious' mind is and how they function:

  • Your conscious mind: what you actively think (meaning, as you read this right now, you are operating from your conscious mind in order to understand what is written... same with conversations...)

  • Your subconscious mind:  automatic thoughts, typically engrained during the preverbal stage of development, meaning before age 8-12, and based upon things you heard figures of authority say and just memorized as true about yourself... (meaning, when you take a phone call, get lost in thought, and manage to drive home, it's your subconscious mind that operates how hard to push on the pedal, when to stop at the stoplight, turning your turn signal on, etc.  Incredibly complex tasks handled seemlessly, on 'autopilot'.)

In actuality, there is a balance between the two that makes life so rich.  However, when the subconscious mind exists in a perpetual state of unhealthy thoughts, beliefs, or patterns it can be quite destructive, produce a state of 'fear' or 'auto-stress' and 'anxiety'.  A busy subconscious. mind that doesn't feel enough, worthy, loved for example, can be quite draining.

On the other hand, imagine programming your subconscious mind to actually support you!!!  Now, you're able to automatically reinforce that you are worthy, capable, enough, loving, accepted, and more.  Your beliefs, in the most automatic -- and most powerful -- part of your mind now support your level of self-confidence, belief in yourself, and your ability to execute upon what you set your mind.  

Now what?!

Can you imagine the possibilities?  

For today, let's focus on one simple thought exercise: 

When is the last time you listened to your mind for at least 20 minutes and then journaled what you heard?  

If you haven't done this lately (or at all), now is the perfect time.  The best way to understand what's happening automatically is to close your eyes and "listen".
